Amex Uses Web App to Expand Offerings, Improve Transaction Speed

Developed by Dunn Solutions Group, ExpressPass is a Web-based solution that gives American Express and its partners around the world a better tool for selling pre-paid products. These products include Travelers Checques, Travel Cards, Gift Cards and credit cards. Pre-paid products are a key line for American Express, and the new system also offered an opportunity to add service offerings.

ExpressPass locations include banks and financial institutions, exchanges, travel agencies, grocery stores, UPS Stores and American Express offices. The system, which had to be integrated with a variety of IT infrastructures and work in 12 languages, was developed to generate additional business and make transactions easier and faster to conduct.

The first release of ExpressPass far exceeded the demand and functionality of the previous system. The system has given American Express the ability to provide benefits that go far beyond its Travelers Checques program, expand its product offerings and extend its products to more financial institutions and retail organizations.

Global System Handles Heavy Transaction Load

Although American Express is an IBM shop, they have seen first-hand the benefit, capabilities and return on investment Borland development products offer. The ExpressPass application is now deployed to 10 different countries, and handles tens of thousands of simultaneous users and hundreds of thousands of transactions every day.

Today, when you buy American Express products anywhere in the United States and Europe – at banks, UPS Stores and or any American Express partner outlet – the transaction will be conducted using ExpressPass.
