Dental Benefit Providers Uses BPM to Cut Enrollment Process From 24 Hours to 10 Minutes

Dental Benefit Providers (DBP) is one of the nation's largest private label dental benefit companies, serving more than 5 million members through 20 distributor clients. Established in 1984, the company has 67,000 participating dentists nationwide. In 2002 and 2003 DBP experienced rapid growth.

In order to handle the large influx of new member enrollments, DBP needed a system that would help manage the process, as well as integrate easily with the organization's legacy systems.

Using BEA's AquaLogic Business Process Management (ALBPM) Suite, Dental Benefit Providers implemented two separate projects: The first manages the new customer eligibility requirements, as well as enters new customer information into the company's customer database. The second automates the re-pricing application process.

DBP receives new enrollments from independent brokers. These new enrollments come with a packaged price provided by the broker. ALBPM is used to handle the re-pricing of these packages and deliver updated pricing to the end consumer.

Dental Benefit Providers reduced its new member enrollment process time from 24 hours to approximately 10 minutes. Business pressures required a fast and robust solution. DBP had the first process up and running in less than three months.
