Home Properties Datamart Delivers Improved Reporting

Home Properties, a real estate investment trust based in Rochester, N.Y., was implementing a new third-party MRI property management system to replace their legacy AMSI system. Reporting in the legacy system used a normalized transactional database format, and required significant amounts of data processing and manipulation.

Home Properties needed assistance from Dunn Solutions Group to assemble a robust and flexible data warehouse to facilitate and speed reporting. Using Microsoft SQLServer and Data Transformation Services, Dunn Solutions Group completed the first phase of the data warehouse. This included the development of data-staging areas, a reporting datamart, DTS scripts to load data, and reports that allow the company to analyze data from the new MRI system and existing JD Edwards accounting system.

The development of this performance-oriented SQLServer datamart has greatly improved response times. In addition, the report development process has been significantly shortened and simplified.

A second phase added historical data from the legacy AMSI system and additional data from the MRI and accounting systems.
