Centralized Info and Document Management Offers Efficiency, Scalability

Spot Trading LLC is a proprietary off-floor equity options trading firm located in Chicago.  The company was founded in 1999 on a business model that emphasizes an integrated approach to trading, development and information analysis.  To maximize the firm's return, Spot Trading utilizes a proprietary trading model that is innovative in its use of automation, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and disciplined risk management principles.

As Spot Trading grew, management realized the critical need to centralize and manage their large volume of information.  The existing solution utilized the Windows file system for document storage/retrieval, several home-built support applications, and e-mail to push reporting to managers.  This approach, though satisfactory for current needs, did not offer the scalability that would be required with continued growth and expanded operations.  

Dunn Solutions Group was engaged to assess the company’s existing solution, and develop a better, more effective and efficient solution using current technologies. The answer: an enterprise portal and document management system.

Utilizing its Assurity™ methodology, Dunn Solutions Group conducted a complete technical assessment of the firm’s needs.  Through a detailed stakeholder interview process, and by reviewing the company’s short-term and long-term goals, BEA AquaLogic was selected as the best solution to fulfill the initiative’s requirements. 

The first phase of the implementation focused on delivering features that provided Spot Trading the quickest return on investment: document management and workflow.  Dunn Solutions Group provided on-site technical resources to install the AquaLogic product, implement corporate branding, and configuration.  Dunn Solutions Group also provided testing resources to validate the implementation against requirements prior to its launch.  Additional features were prioritized and iteratively constructed, tested and released in subsequent phases.
