Trash4Kids.org wins SWANA Excellence Award

September 2, 2004

Trash4Kids.org, an innovative website created by Dunn Solutions Group, will be honored with a 2004 Excellence Award by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).  The award will be presented September 23, 2004, at the organization’s annual conference, WasteCon 2004.

The SWANA Excellence Awards are presented each year to recognize outstanding programs that promote the environmentally and economically sound management of solid waste.

Created for Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (Gurnee, Ill.), Trash4Kids.org is designed to educate children and their teachers about solid waste and recycling.  The fun, interactive website offers an entertaining and informative mix of knowledge, activities and games.  The goal: to encourage kids to act responsibly and consider the alternatives to creating garbage, and to learn the “4 R’s” – reduce, re-use, recycle and recover.

Trash4Kids.org offers kids a variety of learning activities, games and contests, and offers teachers ideas for projects, information on free workshops, news on grant programs and curriculum tools they can use to incorporate solid waste education in the classroom.
