Performance Testing on Government Health Insurance Marketplace Website

The high demand for health insurance inquiries has led to severe performance issues for the government’s new health insurance marketplace website.  The overwhelmed servers and slow response time will need to be addressed using performance tuning, optimization and refinement.

Is the issue that more thorough performance testing should have been done before the website was launched?

With today’s cloud infrastructure, we can spin up and clone servers in Amazon Cloud in just a matter of minutes. In addition, Borland Silk Performer can be leased on a weekly basis to generate load and web traffic to simulate number of transactions hitting the health care website.

The combination of Amazon Cloud and Silk Performer is a very cost effective model as companies only pay for the necessary Amazon server capacity and the weekly license for the load testing software.
